Introduction
Gulf Chemical and Metallurgical provides an envirnmental service to the oil refining and petrochemical industies throughout the world, by receiving, storing, and processing listed hazardous spent catalysts. In the process of treating these hazardous catalysts, and providing the generator a cerfitifcate of consumption, Gulf produces high purity oxides of Molybdenum and Vanadium in their hydrometallurgical process. Gulf is the only recycler to also use a pyrometallurgical operation in series which produces and mixed alloy of Nickel and Cobalt. The calcium aluminate produced from this operation is also a useful saleable product. Gulf Chemical and Metallurgical is the oldest and largest recycler of spent catalysts in the world. Bear Metallurgical Corporation is a wholly owned division of Gulf, and is the largest indepentdent converter of Ferromolybdenum and Ferrovanadium in North America. Bear is loacated in Butler, Pennsylvania, USA. Gulf is located in Freeport, Texas, USA.
